While standing on the driving range at Muirfield Village during the 1998 Memorial Tournament, I saw PGA Tour Pro Freddy Couples on the driving range. I watched him practice a follow-through drill, and it’s stuck with me ever since.
He stood with his club at impact and made about five to 10 follow-through motions – from impact to finish and over and over. Then he would hit a golf shot, making that same follow-through. I thought it was a very interesting technique, but I never truly understood why he practiced it until I progressed in the game myself.
I now practice this drill, standing at impact and slowly feeling my body concluding the swing from the impact position.
